Mainland to promulgate rules for loans to Taiwanese businessmen

The Chinese mainland has set as a priority the development of rules governing loans to Taiwan invested enterprises on the mainland, said a spokesman in Beijing Wednesday.

"The rules will be publicized this month," said Li Weiyi, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, at a regularly scheduled news conference.

According to a five-year contract signed in September by the office and the State Development Bank, a total of 30 billion yuan (3.75 billion US dollars) will be allocated for loans for Taiwan enterprises on the mainland.

The sale of agricultural products from Taiwan is a priority for the central government, Li told the conference.

In the future, China will adopt further measures to promote such sales, including building a special exclusive area for the wholesale of fruit from Taiwan, he said.
