China attaches importance to relations with India, and would like to enhance bilateral ties in a healthy and stable way, said Qin Gang, spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing Thursday.
"The good-neighborly relations between the two countries are in conformity with the fundamental interests of both, and are conducive to the peace and stability of Asia and the world," he told a regular news conference.
Qin made the remarks when commenting on the meeting between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh on the sideline of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations meetings in Malaysia.
During the meeting, Wen expressed a welcome to India to participate in the East Asian Summit, hoping the summit would help promote regional cooperation and cooperation with other regions, according to Qin.
He added China and India have signed a memorandum of understanding on resolving their border issue, and the two countries will settle this issue through consultation.
