font size

The quarantine ended on Thursday in a bird flu-hit town in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region after 21 days of isolation, local authorities said.

No new infections of bird flu or human cases were found during the past three weeks of strict quarantine in Dahewan Town of Zalantun City, said Mayor Hu Lianyi.

Culling of poultry, disinfection and epidemiological studies had conducted as requested, he said.

The situation of the town has met the national standards for lifting the bird flu quarantine, according to the local headquarters for bird flu prevention.

So far, China has reported about 30 outbreaks of bird flu in 11 provinces and regions, and confirmed five human cases of bird flu.
