font size

Jia Qinglin, member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has called on people of the country to make joint efforts to promote economic and social development.

"We should pool the wisdom and force of all the people to boost development in a scientific way," said Jia during a five-day inspection tour of eastern Zhejiang Province that ended Friday.

Jia, also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the highest advisory body, visited businesses, research institutes, villages and urban communities during the tour.

He underlined the necessity of maintaining and stabilizing macro-economic policies to push China's economic and social progress onto a sustainable development track.

"We must as always prioritize the development of the rural economy to increase grain production and farmers' income while reducing their financial burdens, so as to score real achievements in building a new socialist countryside," he said.

Jia encouraged business of the non-public sector to bring their advantages into full play and try to become a major force in technological innovation.

He also called for efforts to unite all people that can be united, implement the policies on freedom of religious belief and improve the competence of officials for the fulfillment of China's 11th five-year program for national economic and social development.
