President Hifikepunye Pohamba of the Republic of Namibia expressed his hope Friday in Haikou that the trade volume between Namibia and China's southernmost Hainan province can enjoy a further increase in the future.
Pohamba arrived in Haikou, capital of Hainan province, on Friday morning, kicking off his first state visit to China since he assumed the presidency in March this year.
He and his delegation paid a visit to Haikou Free Trade Zone and the peripheral enterprises Friday afternoon, during which he showed great interest in the industrial development of the province.
Pohamba said since its founding in 1990, Namibia has conducted active cooperation with China in the economic and diplomatic fields.
Pharmaceuticals and automobiles are the most needed products in the development process of his country. He hopes Namibia and Hainan can enjoy a further increase in their trade volume.
Wei Liucheng, governor of Hainan province, also briefed Pohamba and his delegation about Hainan's development layout.
