An explosion was heard in southern Gaza on Saturday, killing at least one militant and wounding three others, witnesses and Palestinian security sources said.
The explosion was caused by an Israeli army drone which fired two rockets at a car traveling near the Soffa crossing on the borders between Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip and Israel, the sources said.
Khaled Abu Setta, a militant leader of Ahmed Abu Reesh Brigades, an armed wing of the Fatah movement led by Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, was killed in the air strike, Palestinian medics at Abu Yousef al-Najjar in Rafah town said.
Israeli army said Abu Setta was behind firing several homemade rockets earlier Saturday from southern Gaza at southern Israel.
Ambulances and firefighters arrived at the explosion site, said the sources, adding that dozens of Palestinians screamed and called for immediate revenge.
Israel has resumed targeted killings of Palestinian militants after a suicide bomber from Islamic Jihad killed five Israelis in Netanya on Dec. 5.
Several militants have been killed during the renewed round of air strikes.
