font size

Foreign trade in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin surpassed 50 billion U.S. dollars as of Dec. 14, up 25 percent over the same period last year, local customs statistics show.

This makes Tianjin one of the top eight provinces and municipalities in China in foreign trade volume.

In the first 11 months, the city reported 47.6 billion U.S. dollars worth of imports and exports, an increase of 25.7 percent year-on-year.

The figure included 24.4 billion U.S. dollars in exports and 23.2 billion U.S. dollars in imports, up 31 percent and 20.6 percent year-on-year, respectively.

The United States, the Republic of Korea, Japan and the European Union were the major trading partners of Tianjin from January to November, with an aggregate trade volume of nearly 31 billion U.S. dollars, which accounted for 65 percent of the city's total foreign trade.
