Polish Minister of Economy Piotr Grzegorz Wozniak made positive comments on the draft ministerial text circulated on Saturday afternoon.
The minister said at the ongoing Sixth WTO Ministerial Conference that Poland welcomes the draft ministerial text presented by Director General of the WTO Pascal Lamy, saying the draft is considered by the Polish negotiation delegates as a " useful base for further work."
In the field of agriculture, the official said there is a need to provide a balanced outcome of agriculture negotiations in all the three pillars of domestic support, export competition and market access.
As to access to non-agricultural goods market, the Polish delegation supports the idea of reduction of tariff rates and elimination of tariff peaks.
In Poland, an open and WTO-based trade regime has been in recent years an essential engine of growth.
The official said Poland recognizes successful conclusion of the Doha Development Round as an important step towards further development of the multilateral trading system.
He added Poland stresses the importance of the parallel mode of conducting the Doha Development Agenda talks in all negotiating areas.
The official said his country also supports a further liberalization of trade in services and upholds the Doha Round talks must be ended as scheduled.
