Ten Chinese were selected as the 16th China's "Outstanding Youth" in Beijing Sunday.
The winners include Zhang Qingjun, an associate chief designer of manned spaceflight system of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Zhang Yining, a table tennis player who has won all golden medals in major international games, and Wu Weizhou, a chief commander in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet railway.
A schoolteacher of Yao ethnic group and a circus player of Uygur ethnic group were given the honor.
The winners also include a soldier, a policeman and chairmen of the board of three companies.
The ten people were selected out of 44 candidates recommended by Youth League committees and youth federations at provincial level. The awarding ceremony will be held in January 2006, according to the All-China Youth Federation.
