Indonesia to talk with CNOOC executives over LNG supply delay
font size

The Indonesian government plans to meet with executives of China National Offshore Oil Corporation ( CNOOC) to discuss the delay of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export from Indonesia, an official said Monday.

"We must wait for the result of talks with CNOOC executives in China," Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yugiantoro told reporters here.

He said Indonesian officials must visit China because CNOOC representatives in Indonesia do not have the authority to decide over the planned delay.

State-run oil and gas firm PT Pertamina said earlier it would cut LNG export by 6 million tons to several major buyers in Japan, South Korea and China, including CNOOC.

The move was taken after the government ordered the company to increase domestic supplies due to growing demand, particularly from fertilizer companies.

The country's LNG export averages 25 million tons per annum.
