Police authorities in south China's Guangdong Province repatriated two Taiwanese criminal suspects to Taiwan last Friday, a source from the Ministry of Public Security disclosed on Monday.
The source said local policemen arrested Taiwanese criminal suspect Chen Kuanxin on Sept. 26, 2005 in Dongguan city of Guangdong Province. Chen was suspected of being involved in forging securities in Taiwan. He illegally entered Guangdong Province to evade arrest by Taiwan police authorities.
In November 2005, Guangdong Provincial police authorities arrested another Taiwanese criminal suspect, Zhang Qisheng, who violated "anti-corruption regulations" and "weapon management regulation" in Taiwan and was suspected of committing forging documents, domestic violence and robbery.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security said, with the frequent exchange and cooperation between Taiwan and mainland, Taiwanese criminal suspects often flee to the mainland, severely threatening the social security and stability of both the mainland and Taiwan island.
The spokesman said joint efforts of cracking down upon crimes are conducive to safeguarding stability and security.
