International relations in 2005 have stabilized but many challenges remain for the coming year said Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Tuesday during an interview with the People's Daily.

"It is the choice of many countries in the world to seek peace and development through cooperation," Li said.

Increased interaction between closely linked regions and globalization have made profound changes in international relations, said Li. Globalization has deepened interdependence and cooperation between nations.

Li also says non-traditional security threats such as terrorism and natural disasters require all nations to work together.

While the world's economy has maintained growth, challenges affecting its development have also increased. Stable, sustainable and balanced development of the world economy is a common task facing all nations. Special difficulties confronting developing countries under globalization also require special attention.
