Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Beijing Tuesday with Lupando Augustine Festus Mwape, vice president of the Republic of Zambia.

Wen and Mwape held friendly talks on improving China-Zambia traditional friendship and bilateral trade, sources with the Foreign Ministry said.

Mwape is visiting China at the invitation of Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong.

After meeting with Wen, Mwape held talks with Zeng. The two countries signed several cooperative documents following the talks of the two vice-presidents.

Before coming to Beijing, he visited Shenzhen and Guangzhou cities in south China's Guangdong Province and the business hub of Shanghai in east China.
