China seeks common interests in foreign policy, says FM

Chinese foreign policy not only resolutely safeguards its own interests, but also actively seeks common interests of other nations in the context of intensified globalization and the interdependence, said Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing in Beijing Tuesday.

"China considers the concern of its own as well as other countries, and will be a strength to safeguard world peace and promote common prosperity forever," he said in an interview with People's Daily.

Li noted that China is the world's largest developing nation, and has maintained the stable and rapid development for many years. This benefits its own people, and the people of other countries as well.

"The majority of the countries of the world welcome China's development, taking it as an opportunity," he said.

He clarified that the basic concept of China's peaceful development is to seek harmony and development in the country, and to promote peace and cooperation in the world.

"China will develop itself through expanding cooperation with other nations, and then take advantage of its development to help achieve world peace and the development of human beings," he said.
