Vice-Chairman of the Myanmar State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) Vice Senior-General Maung Aye told a Chinese military delegation on Friday in Yangon that Myanmar will continue to develop friendly ties between Myanmar and China and between the two armed forces on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
Maung Aye, who is also Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, made the remarks when meeting with visiting Chinese military goodwill delegation, led by Deputy Commander of Chengdu Military Area Command Lieutenant- General Gui Quanzhi.
At the meeting, Maung Aye expressed satisfaction over the present relations between the two countries and the two armed forces as well, reiterating that Myanmar will also continue to insist on adopting the "one China" policy.
He noted that since the signing in December last year of the memorandum of understanding on establishment of border defense talks mechanism and management of border affairs between the two defense ministries, the mechanism has been functioning normally.
He also emphasized that there was no problem in the two countries' border affairs in the past before the signing of the MoU and there is and will no problem at present and in the future.
The meeting was attended by Myanmar SPDC member Lieutenant- General Kyaw Win and other high-ranking military officials as well as Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Guan Mu and Military Attaches Senior-Colonel Ma Shoudong.
The Chinese military delegation arrived here on Thursday on a six-day goodwill visit to Myanmar at the invitation of Kyaw Win. Before its Yangon trip, the Chinese delegation had visited Nepal.
