The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), or China's top think tank, founded a Marxism academy Monday in Beijing.
Liu Yunshan, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said at the inaugural of the academy that new and still advances should be made in Marxist theories in tandem with economic and social development at the modern times.
The CPC Central Committee attaches great importance to ideological building and earnestly pushes forward researches on important theories and practical issues, said Liu, who is also head of the CPC Central Committee Publicity Department.
Liu urged Chinese theorists to involve themselves in the theoretical studies of major theoretical and practical issues, increase their sense of responsibility and do more researches on Marxism against a backdrop of the modern times.
The scholars need to deeply study Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the idea of "Three Represent's," and carry out in-depth studies of scientific concept of development, Liu said.
They were also inspired to study issues concerning the sustained, rapid, concerted and healthy growth of national economy, in an effort to provide solutions to the country's economic, political, cultural and social advancement.
Liu urged scholars to adhere to Marxism, and integrate Marxist theories still better with the the concrete practice in China.
Meanwhile, Liu encouraged the CASS Marxism Academy to produce outstanding works in theoretical study and upbring a contingent of excellent Marxist theoretical researchers.
The newly-established academy is headed by Vice CASS President Leng Rong, who specializes in study on Deng Xiaoping theory.
