font size

Samsung Group, a leading conglomerate in the Republic of Korea (ROK), will build a new digital camera production plant in Tianjin, the largest port city in north China.

The plant, which covers 47,000 square meters at the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, is to become operational in 2006. Construction of the project is to cost 240 million yuan (29.6 million U.S. dollars.)

The company aims to make the plant a "super competitive" digital camera production base in the world. The plant is to produce 10 million cameras by 2007, ranking third in terms of market share in the world.

The plant is the sixth company opened by the Samsung Group in Tianjin.
