The State Council, or China's cabinet, appointed in Beijing on Tuesday Long Xinmin Commissioner of the State Press and Publication Administration, replacing Shi Zongyuan.

According to the appointment, Long will serve concurrently as head of China's National Copyright Administration.

Long, who had served as head of Beijing's Press and Publication Bureau for many years, was promoted to be deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China in 2000.

Long was born in September 1946 and was a native of central China's Hunan Province.

Also on Tuesday, Hu Jiayan (female) was appointed deputy director of the State General Administration of Sport, replacing Li Zhijian.
