font size

The Beijing Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) inaugurated its new office building Wednesday, a detached three-story building with more than 2,000 square meters of floor space.

HKSAR Chief Executive Donald Tsang, who is in Beijing on a duty visit, said at the unveiling ceremony here that the HKSAR Beijing Office has been a major channel of communication between the mainland and Hong Kong. The inauguration of the new office building fully embodies the support of the central government toward Hong Kong.

State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan, Beijing Mayor Wang Qishan and deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council Chen Zuo'er also attended the ceremony.

The HKSAR Beijing Office, established in March 1999, was formerly located in a rented office building.

Completed in September, the new office building is located near the picturesque Shichahai area.
