Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa has promised to promote sport at all levels, saying that the sport development should start from the grassroots.

He made the promise in a speech read on his behalf by Lusaka Province permanent secretary Susan Sikaneta at the official launch of the Kafue district football coaching clinic near Lusaka, Wednesday.

He said the government is not only concentrating on the development of sport at national level but at the grassroots as well.

The president urged the participants to take the course with the seriousness so that they contribute to the development of both sport and the southern African country's economy at large.
