First ground traffic tool wind tunnel under construction

The construction of Shanghai wind tunnel for ground traffic vehicles was launched on Dec. 28. It is the first motor vehicle and track traffic laboratory so far in China and also one of Shanghai's key scientific and technological projects.

The establishment of such a wind tunnel center symbolises that China has formed a complete systematic auto R&D platform, which will provide favorable conditions for the innovation of Chinese auto industry.

Initiated at the end of 2004 and to be completed by 2007, the project will facilitate the research and design for aerodynamics and essential wind tunnel tests for domestic ground and track traffic service, which is only conducted in a few advanced laboratories overseas now.
