China shuts down 598 porn websites

From September to November Chinese police have shut down 598 pornographic websites within its borders, canceling 35 porn website domain names according to the law. All the porn website discovered have now been shut down.

Since September the Ministry of Public Security, together with the State Council Information Office and the Ministry of Information Industry, has launched a nationwide special campaign to crack down on pornographic activities using the Internet such as video chat. A total of 90 such cases have been uncovered and 221 suspects detained. All the 20 major cases specially tended and supervised by the Ministry of Public Security have all been cracked.
