E. China city-Taiwan trade volume tops 2 bln US dollars

The trade volume between Ningbo city, east China's Zhejiang Province, and Taiwan reached 2.217 billion U.S. dollars in the first 11 months this year, 32.6 percent higher than last year's same period, the latest statistics show.

Ningbo imported 2.005 billion U.S. dollars worth of commodities from Taiwan in the 11-month period, up 32.2 percent over last year's corresponding period. The city exported 212 million U.S. dollars worth of goods to Taiwan in the same period, a rise of 35.9 percent year on year.

The trade deficit reached 1.79 billion U.S. dollars, up 37.4 percent over last year's same period, according to the Ningbo Customs.

Ningbo mainly imported chemicals, electronics and machines, plastic and plastic products, and exported electronics and machines from Taiwan.

Overseas-funded businesses did a trade of 1.29 billion U.S. dollars with Taiwan in the 11-month period, up 42.7 percent and accounted for 56.1 percent of the city's total trade volume with Taiwan.
