Zambian central bank governor said here Friday that the country's banking sector remains adequately capitalized with all the banks meeting the five percent minimum capital requirement and 10 percent regulatory capital.
Caleb Fundanga said that the non-bank financial institutions remain focused on promoting stability through the enforcement of the regulations that govern the performance of the sector.
He said that the asset quality in the sector is satisfactory while the ratio of gross non-performing loans to assets stands at 2.8 percent. The ratio of the sector's liquid assets to total deposits and short-term liabilities stands at 70.3 percent.
