China's first LNG ship sails off shipyard
China's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) ship, sailed off shipyard at the end of Dec., 2005, in Shanghai. Representing high-tech and high-added value in the shipbuilding industry, it can only be built in Japan, the Republic of Korea and several European countries. China input more than 100 million yuan on the research of the LNG ship in the past years. The first LNG ship, 292 meters long and 43.35 wide, with a capacity of 147,200 cubic meters, is scheduled to go into operation in October, 2007.(Xinhua photo)

Sewage leak causes highway cave-in Beijing
A sewage pipeline leak in the early hours on Jan. 3 near Jingguang Flyover caused the eastern section of highway running past Beijing's Central Business District (CBD) to cave in, with filthy water pouring into an underground construction site.

11 killed in German rink roof collapse

Rescuers had to stop their search for bodies Tuesday in the wreckage of the rink amid fears that a wall might collapse on emergency workers as 15 feared dead. The eleven killed included six children, while the missing were feared dead as temperatures were below zero and more than 24 hours passed.
