Zambia co-opts foreign coach for Africa cup
font size

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has co-opted an unnamed foreign coach for the Africa cup of nations tournament in Egypt, the Post newspaper reported Wednesday.

FAZ spokesman Mwansa Mbulakulima said here Tuesday that the coach, whom he could not name, will be part of the technical bench at the Cairo nations soccer fiesta.

He said "we are likely to have one person joining the technical bench. I can't say whether he is coming from Mexico or Holland. But he is not coming from Zambia or any country in Africa."

But Zambian national team assistant coach Ben Bamfuchile confirmed that a proposal to co-opt a Dutch coach to help with analyzing Zambia's matches has been discussed within FAZ.

Bamfuchile said the team will benefit more if a foreign coach is co-opted on the technical bench at the Africa Cup.

Mbulakulima said the foreign coach is expected to join the team during the camp in France.
