China's first LNG ship built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd affiliated to China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) was launched in east China's Shanghai. CSSC has so far possessed the technique in building LNG ship, which could only be manufactured by Japan, ROK and a few European countries, highlighting the great leap forward achieved by Chinese shipbuilding technique.
The output of CSSC in 2005 has reached 5.13 million, accounting for 7 percent of the global ship market, hopefully occupying the third or the fourth place worldwide. So far CSSC has received totally 8 million tons of order with the contract sum approaching 50 billion yuan. Currently, the handheld order has amounted to 16 million tonnage, more than four times that of former CSSC at its peak.
CSSC stepped up efforts to strengthen international competitiveness and improve shipbuilding technique during the "Tenth Five-Year" period by enhancing self-innovation, deepening reform as well as optimising industrial structure. The trio of bulk carrier, oil tanker as well as container vessel has realised standardisation, batch production and specialisation. More importantly, CSSC has mastered all the key techniques in designing and building various ships, including super oil tanker.
