Three China's non-governmental organizations donated 15,000 yuan (approximately 1,875 U.S. dollars), hundreds of books and improvised paintings to the Female Criminals Prison of Beijing on Friday.

Paying a visit to the prison, scholars and experts from China Youth Concern Committee(CYCC), China Society for Human Rights Studies(CSHRS) and China Prison Society(CPS) donated the beneficence to the prison.

The scholars and experts brought Chinese Lunar New Year's greetings to the police officers and more than 900 female prisoners by conversational communication face-to-face with the prisoners.

Warden of the prison Li Ruihua told Xinhua that the prison has taken some special management for female criminals such as allowing them to use cosmetic on holidays and visits.

The prison has also provided opportunities of commuting and parole for the criminals on Women's Days, according to Li.

"In addition to teaching them professional skills, we are very concerned with psychological problems of the prisoners," said the warden, noting that the prison has made psychological health record for every prisoner and provide venues and consultants for psychological salvation.

To ensure legal rights of the prisoners, mail boxes have been built on the walls along prisoner's rooms in which prisoners could send their suggestions, appeals and complaints, she said.

The prison, established in 1999, is the only one which keeps female adult criminals in Beijing.
