font size

Party committees and discipline inspection commissions at all levels in the military should step up their anti-corruption efforts, a senior Chinese official said in Beijing Saturday.

Xu Caihou, a member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the call at a meeting on discipline inspection work of the military.

Xu said the military should study and have a good understanding of the important speech by Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee at the just concluded sixth plenary session of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

In his speech, Hu highlighted the importance of strengthening the Party's efforts to fight corruption and build clean government, stressed the role of the Party Constitution as a guideline for the anti-corruption campaign, and called on all Party members to study, abide by, implement and safeguard the Party Constitution.

Citing Hu's speech, Xu said the military should have a clear view of the current situation and new tasks, and fully realize the responsibility and urgency of the anti-corruption work. The military should solve outstanding problems concerning the Party's work style, set higher standards and take down-to-earth measures for the anti-corruption work.

Members of the military should further understand the scientific concept of development, and enhance their sense of responsibility and the practical work capability in line with the Party Constitution.

Discipline inspection organs should play its best role in Party building, guaranteeing all anti-corruption work be carried out.

A communique was issued here Saturday for the sixth plenary session of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, which was held in Beijing from Jan. 5 to 6.
