Number of foreign tourists to India increases in 2005

Foreign tourist arrivals in India in 2005 registered an increase of 13.2 percent over the previous year, according to a press release issued by the Indian government Monday.

Up to 3,915,324 foreign tourists visited the country during 2005 while the number was 3,457,477 during 2004. Foreign exchange earnings, in terms of Indian currency, also recorded a 16.5 percent growth in 2005, according to the press release.
