China's high-tech product export for the first time surpassed $200 billion in 2005 to reach $218.3 billion, which was a $52.7 billion or 31.8 percent increase over that in 2004. The export accounted for 28.6 percent of national export in 2005 and has set up a new record, as learned from the Ministry of Commerce.
Accumulated export growth of high-tech products began to surpass that of national export growth last July and expanded the edge of 0.3 percentage point in July to 3.4 percentage points in December.
Computer products accounted for half of the high-tech product export in 2005 and exceeded $100 billion while communications and electronics products took the second and third places.
