Norway concerned about Iran's resumption of uranium enrichment research

The Norwegian government is deeply concerned about Iran's decision to break the International Atomic Energy Agency's seals at nuclear power facilities in the country, Norwegian Broadcasting reported on Friday.

"Iran's resumption of its uranium enrichment research is a serious step in the wrong direction,"said Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere.

This was also emphasised Thursday when the Iranian Ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for talks, and Norway's view is that Iran must comply with the IAEA's demands, according to the report.

Norway has actively supported the efforts to find a diplomatic solution concerning Iran's nuclear programme, Jonas Gahr Stoere said.

"This latest development makes this more difficult and brings the matter one step closer to the UN Security Council," said the Foreign Minister.
