China will work with Thailand to promote bilateral strategic cooperation, top political advisor Jia Qinglin said in Beijing Monday when meeting with former Thai Prime Minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said Thailand is China's friendly neighbor and close partner, and the Sino-Thai ties become important component parts of the relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
China attaches great importance to the relations with Thailand, and is ready to make concerted efforts with Thailand to push forward bilateral strategic cooperation, in a bid to benefit the two peoples and make more contributions to the regional peace, stability and prosperity.
Jia expressed his appreciation for Chavalit's important contribution to promoting China-Thailand friendship.
Chavalit spoke highly of the development of Thailand-China relations and of achievements China has made in economic construction.
Chavalit said Thailand values its relations with China, and is willing to upgrade strategic cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
