The domestic and overseas oil and gas output gained by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is expected to reach 200 million tons by 2010, said sources with CNPC on Monday.

As China's largest oil and gas producer, CNPC will enhance its exploration in the 2006-2010 period to maintain sustainable growth of its proven crude oil reserves, said Chen Geng, general manager of CNPC.

Gas reserves in the 2006-2010 period will register a double-digit growth rate, Chen added.

By 2010, the annual oil and gas output at Songliao Basin in northeast China the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the country's northwestern part will reach 50 million tons respectively.

The output in east China's Bohai Bay and in north China's Ordos Basin will top 25 million tons each and the combined output of five major oil and gas bases in southwest China's Sichuan Basin will surpass 15 million tons, said Chen.

Oil refining and ethylene production capacities will then be further increased, he said.
