Singapore conducted an exercise against multiple chemical, biological, radiological and explosive (CBRE) incidents Friday afternoon at Seletar Camp located in the northern part of the city state.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF), the exercise highlighted a new CBRE Data Center, as well as demonstrating participants' integrated counter-radiological capabilities in prevention, protection and consequence management.

"This Data Center integrates CBRE intelligence, operational experience and technical CBRE expertise within a central repository, which facilitates the efficient management and dissemination of information," MINDEF said, adding that it also provides post-blast technical expertise for forensic investigation.

The Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosives Defense Group from the Singapore Armed Forces, as well as teams from the Singapore Civil Defense Force and the Singapore Police Force participated in the exercise.

Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Law S. Jayakumar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Wong Kan Seng and Defense Minister Teo Chee Hean observed the exercise.

Earlier this month, Singapore held its largest civil emergency exercise against bomb attacks on the public transport system, which involved 22 government agencies.
