    Chartered flights take off for 2006 lunar new year

Taiwan-based China Airlines charter flight took off in Taipei at 8:03 a.m. and left for Shanghai on Jan. 20, 2006. The flight, which launches the third time Spring Festival charter flights arranged between the Straits, is the first charter flight across the Taiwan Straits for this year's Spring Festival, which falls on Jan. 29.

    China score convincing win over Norway 3-1 to top standings

    An in-form China squad triumphed over Norway 3-1 in convincing way to climb on top of the standings at the Four Nation Women's Soccer Tournament 2006 China in Guangzhou on Friday. China's star player Han Duan drew the first blood for China through a header only seconds before the half time whistle.

    Gas explosion in Sichuan

    A nurse looks after accident victims at a local People's Hospital after a gas pipeline explosion took place on Friday afternoon in Renshou County, southwest China's Sichuan Province. Nine people were killed and nearly 40 more injured.

    Chinese consumers confident in future

    The latest MasterIndex of Consumer Confidence survey shows Chinese consumers confidence reached 82.3, hitting historical highs in terms of the Quality of Life, Economy and Regular Income. That indicates Chinese consumers continue to have an optimistic economic outlook, despite of many existing and soon-to-emerge economic challenges (Google/CRI)
