The Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) has said at least 14 anti-government guerrillas and six security personnel were killed during fierce overnight clashes at Faparbari area of Makawanpur district in central Nepal on Saturday.

The Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) of the RNA said here Sunday that those killed on the security side included a police personnel.

According to the DPR, clashes had taken place as the guerrillas tried to attack security troops on regular patrol in the area, some 100 km west of Kathmandu.

An officer at the DPR told reporters that bodies of 14 armed guerrillas have been recovered so far from the site of clashes.

The guerrillas may have taken away more bodies of their comrades who died in the clashes, the officer said on condition of anonymity.
