Beijing's per capita GDP at 5,457 U.S. dollars in 2005

The per capita GDP of Beijing reached 44,969 yuan, or 5,457 U.S. dollars, last year, a rise of 8.1 percent year on year, according to local statistics bureau.

Beijing's 2004 per capita GDP ranked the tenth in the country and the ranking would not change for last year, said Yu Xiuqin, deputy head of the Beijing Municipal Statistics Bureau.

The statistics show that Beijing's per capita disposable income was 17,653 yuan (more than 2,200 U.S. dollars) for urban residents last year, the Beijing News reported on Monday. The per capita disposable income for the 20 percent of low-income residents rose by 15.9 percent year-on-year, 4.7 percentage points higher than that of the 20 percent of high-income residents.

Beijing's consumption of energy resources last year equaled to 55 million tons of standard coal, and the energy consumption per 10,000 yuan of GDP equaled to 0.81 ton of standard coal last year, down by 3.9 percent year-on-year.
