The first phase of South-to-North water diversion projects, Baoying station along Sanyang River and Tong River and Hejiping trunk canal has been completed and began to reap benefits.
Currently, the South-to-North water diversion project has entered its peak. The whole project is of good quality and safety in construction is under control.
China will further step up efforts to accelerate the scientific and technological innovation, ensure the quality, safety, time limit as well as investment results of the project.
The South-to-North water diversion project started in late 2002 and construction of nine individual projects has started so far, with a total investment of 30 billion yuan. By the end of 2005, totally 61.16 million cubic meters of earth and stone have been completed, accounting for 57 percent of the total project.
