China, Australia discuss peaceful use of nuclear energy

China and Australia conducted negotiations on cooperation in peace utilization of nuclear energy on Jan. 18-19 in Canberra.

Proceeding from the principle of equality and mutual benefit, the two parties held in-depth talks for mapping out relevant agreement on peaceful utilization of nuclear energy, and made important progress.

Both sides expressed that they support the efforts of the international community to prevent nuclear proliferation and are willing to cooperate with each other in peaceful utilization of nuclear energy on the basis of observing their due obligations.

The two countries agreed to further close contact in a bid to complete the negotiations as soon as possible.
