Dr. Kai-fu Lee, head of Google China, is apparently very excited by the performance of students challenging the programming championship sponsored by Google. Several contenders have scored 1,000 marks, he said, which ranked them among the first class. He believes that China's top class is the world's top class and China will become one of the world's software leaders.

Huang Huan, who is studying at Wuhan University of Technology for master's degree, has been crowned after two-months competition.

Google has sponsored three global programming contests so far but it was the first time that the event had been staged in China. It attracted over 13,500 contenders and 50 of them were invited for the final in Beijing.
