Guangdong Province in south China sold abroad 83.59 billion U.S. dollars worth of new- and high-tech products last year, or 35.1 percent of its total exports and a year-on-year growth of 25.7 percent.
The share was 0.4 percentage points higher than the year-earlier level, while the growth rate was 1.4 percentage points higher than that for the total foreign sales in the province, local customs sources said.
Of Guangdong's new- and high-tech export volume, 76.29 billion U.S. dollars, or 91.3 percent, was realized in processing trade.
The new- and high-tech exports included 73.06 billion U.S. dollars worth of computers and telecom products, or 87.4 percent of the total, up 22.9 percent.
Guangdong also witnessed a fast growth in the export value of bio-tech and photoelectric products, which reached 11.5 million U.S. dollars and 2.88 billion U.S. dollars, respectively, up 130 percent and 110 percent.
The top three target markets of Guangdong's new- and high-tech exports were the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the United States and the European Union, according to local customs sources.
