Li Changchun, a senior leader of the Communist Party of China, came on Thursday to the rehearsal spot of the China Central Television Station's (CCTV) Evening Party for New Year's Eve and extended New Year's greetings to the work staff.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, also wished New Year's greetings to all the workers at the art and literary front.

The Spring Festival Evening Party is expected to be broadcast live on Channel One, Channel Four, Channel Nine and the Spanish and French channels of CCTV to all over the world at 8:00 p.m. on Jan. 28, the eve of Chinese lunar New Year, after three months of rehearsals.

The Evening Party, with the theme of "love and harmony", follows the principle that the programme should be close to real life and close to ordinary citizens. The Party has also prepared many programs reflecting changes in rural areas.
