The per capita disposable income of urban residents in Beijing reached 17,653 yuan (2,053 U.S. dollars) in the past year, indicating a yearly increase of 12.9 percent, or 11.2 percent allowing for price factors, according to the latest report issued by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics.
While the per capita disposable income of rural residents reported 7,860 yuan (975 U.S. dollars), up 9.6 percent year-on-year, or 8.1 percent allowing for price factors, according to the report on Beijing's economic and social development in the 2001-2005 period.
In the past five years, the disposable income of urban residents in Beijing registered an average growth rate of 10.4 percent on a yearly basis, while the the disposable income of rural residents reported a 9.9 percent growth rate.
Beijing's permanent residents reached 15.38 million by the end of 2005, 453,000 more than that of 2004 and 1.744 million more than 2000, statistics show.
