The fixed assets investment of Hebei Province in north China shot up 30.4 percent year-on-year to 419.35 billion yuan (52.4 billion U.S. dollars) last year, according to local government statistics.
The fixed assets investment in the province's urban areas reached 336.16 billion yuan last year, up 37.8 percent over the previous year, according to the provincial statistics bureau.
A total of 13,720 projects were under construction last year, 2,827 projects more than in the previous year.
The fixed assets investment in the primary sector, which covers agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery, reached 6.01 billion yuan last year, a rise of 34 percent year on year. The second industry, which covers industries and construction, absorbed 169.08 billion yuan, up 50.5 percent year on year.
The fixed assets investment in the tertiary sector, which covers commerce, finance, trust and investment and services, rose 26.7 percent year on year.
