One Afghan person was killed, 14 others were injured in a firefight between Taliban militants and civilians on Monday in Afghan southern province of Kandahar, a local official said Tuesday.
"Last night at about 10 p.m. (1730 GMT) about 12 Taliban militants blocked the way in Spin Boldak district, searched the cars of the passersby, and took away the music tapes and money," Abdul Wasea Khan, the police officer of the district told Xinhua.
"Local persons took action against the militants, and during the firefight one civilian was killed, 14 others were injured. In Taliban side, two militants were killed, two were injured, and other militants escaped afterwards," he added.
It's the first time that firefight broke out between Taliban militants and Afghan civilians.
According to the extreme rule of Taliban militants, people cannot have entertainment activities like listening to the music or watching TV programs. For several times, the militants attacked the cassette shops. Taliban also ordered all the men to have beard, otherwise they will be beaten.
Taliban militants intensified attacks since the beginning of this year, during which almost 100 persons have been killed in the Taliban-linked militancy.
