Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on Tuesday held talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Afghanistan's reconstruction.
Li and Karzai, who are in London to attend the two-day international conference on the Central Asian country's future, agreed the two neighbors should strengthen cooperation on bilateral trade, education and personnel training.
Afghanistan has made tremendous progress in the fields of politics, security and economy, said Li, adding China would make further contribution to Afghanistan's peace and stability.
Karzai expressed gratitude to China's important support for Afghanistan in the past four years, emphasizing his country will unswervingly stick to the one-China policy.
Afghanistan and China are located in the same region and share the common fate. The Afghan side strongly desires to deepen and strengthen the relations with China, said Karzai.
Envoys from nearly 70 nations and international bodies have issued a five-year blueprint to help the war-shattered nation along the road to peace and self-sufficiency.
The plan, known as the "Afghanistan Compact," sets out specific targets for boosting economic and social development, bolstering security, improving governance, strengthening the rule of law and improving human rights conditions.
On the sidelines of the conference, Li also held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on bilateral relations. They were pleased with the in-depth development of the Sino-Russian strategic partnership in the past year.
Both ministers agreed to work together to make comprehensive preparations for the mutual visits by their leaders, and also to make the "Russia Year" in China a success.
