Tanzania appoints ambassador to UN Geneva office

Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has appointed the former presidential chief secretary as the country's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

Marten Lumbanga, who served as chief secretary in the State House of retired president Benjamin William Mkapa, has already handed over his portfolio to Philemon Luhanjo.

Luhanjo is the former permanent secretary of the Tanzanian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
