    Jones sets 200m breaststroke world record

    Leisel Jones set a world record of two minutes 20.54 seconds for the women's 200 meters breaststroke at the Australian Commonwealth Games trials in Melbourne on Wednesday.

    Saddam boycotts court, trial adjourned to Thursday

    Co-defendants of Saddam Hussein, Mohammed Azawi Ali (front L), Abdullah Kadhem Ruaid (front C) and Ali Daeem Ali (second row C), appear for their trial in Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone February 1, 2006. The trial of Hussein adjourned until Thursday after the court heard five witnesses, but the former Iraqi president and his defence team were not present after deciding to boycott proceedings.

    Central govt orders help to HK tourists

    Iran determined to develop nuclear energy

    Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad (C) said on Wednesday that his country has "the undeniable right" to develop nuclear energy and will not "succumb to bullying" by "fake superpowers".
