font size

Chinese State Councilor Zhou Yongkang urged the country's police to honor their duty during an inspection visit to southwestern Guizhou Province from Tuesday to Thursday.

Zhou, also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, visited police, armed police who were on duty during the Spring Festival holiday week, family members of police martyrs who died at their posts and model policemen in provincial capital Guiyang and Zunyi.

The Spring Festival, or China's lunar New Year, fell on Jan. 29 and the holiday will last to Feb. 4.

The Party and the people will remember and learn from those policemen who sacrificed themselves to safeguard the security of the people's lives and property, Zhou said.

He extended festival greetings to all the policemen on duty on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.
